$12,500 REWARD: CIS Officer Killed in the Line of Duty

Largo, May 16, 2011 – Critical Intervention Services (CIS), Tampa Bay’s leading provider of protective services and security solutions, is saddened to announce the murder of Protection Officer Mathew Little early this morning. CIS is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful conviction of the individual(s) responsible for this tragedy. CIS dispatchers contacted St. Petersburg Police Department when they couldn’t get Officer Little to respond to radio calls as he patrolled Mariner’s Pointe Apartments in St. Petersburg. CIS was notified at approximately 2am that St. Petersburg Police Dept had found Officer Little’s body. CIS is cooperating with the St. Petersburg Police Department who have been very sympathetic and supportive in their investigation and dealings with CIS personnel. CIS has over 300 officers and support staff, all of who are shocked by this killing, the first of its kind in the agency’s 19 year history. Officer Little normally worked the 15th Street corridor in the USF area of Tampa. He was in St Pete covering a shift for a fellow officer who had been deployed for military reserve duty, along with approximately 30 other CIS officers. Officer Little had covered this shift before and was familiar with the area. What makes CIS unique is the amount of time officers spend developing relationships with the residents of the communities it protects. It is these relationships that make it possible for one officer to patrol a whole area. Residents know that CIS is there to protect their community. If the individual(s) who did this, attacked a trained security officer, they might not hesitate to attack an unarmed citizen. It is important that area residents step up to assist if they have information. K.C. Poulin, CEO/President of CIS, had this to say about Officer Little, “Mathew was a 2 year veteran of CIS who took pride in the de-escalation techniques he used to diffuse emotionally charged situations. He was well liked and respected by the community he served and by the CIS family. He was the type of officer who had no problem covering when needed. He will be missed. Our prayers and condolences go out to his family, and our CIS family, as we all deal with this senseless tragedy.” CIS is offering a $10,000 reward, and Private Officer International is offering a $2,500 reward, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) who committed this horrendous crime. Anyone with information should contact Detective Tower with the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780.

CCPBI At Work in Orlando

CIS recently started services for a new apartment community in Orlando Florida and we wanted to share some pictures and a short overview of the new deployment and how it went. As soon as we arrived on property there were several subjects that immediately ran off property, which obviously had no legitimate reason to be in this community. After ensuring that all persons that were in the common areas were actual residents verified through the rent roll and all guests were escorted by the residents, we started our first phase of CCBPI (Community Character Based Protection Initiative), which is the networking phase. CCBPI Honor Coin Design Contest!

The key to our success lies within the core of our company’s foundation. That being our primary principal of our Officers unyielding commitment and ability to build positive, meaningful relationships with the communities in which we serve. Our Community and Character Based Protection Initiative (CCBPI) has been recognized throughout the industry and around the world for its power in addressing and eliminating problems in crime-ridden communities. The CIS Protection Officer often leads the charge in getting residents involved in their own community through a variety of initiatives such as participating in or organizing community events, being a positive role model for children to break the cycle of crime and bolster confidence in the community, and encouraging residents to interact positively with one another, CIS, local law enforcement, and other community resources. In essence, giving the community “back” to the residents; with proactive strategies that impart the belief that people take better care of something that belongs to them. Therefore, every individual within our communities are responsible and held accountable for maintaining a better standard of living that our officers help to create. We present Honor Coins as recognition for outstanding service and professionalism consistent with the highest ideals of CIS, our values, and our methodology. Now we want to complete our coin series with the “Community and Character Based Protection Initiative Honor Coin” and are offering an opportunity for you to be a part of the design process. CCBPI is more than just an acronym, its implementation is what distinguishes CIS from other agencies. As much as the people within our organization and affiliated are a key facet to CCBPI, it was an obvious conclusion they should play a part in creating the design that will reflect it’s concept of the coin. There will be two CCBPI Awards, the first being Silver .999 Minted CCBPI coin that will be issued to employees and anyone else affiliated with CIS who has demonstrated consistent excellence and commitment to CCBPI work through a single act, or numerous acts. The second coin will be a Silver plated CCBPI coin and will be issued to employees and anyone else affiliated with CIS who has performed CCBPI in a manner that exemplifies what the methodology stands for and has met, or accomplished the mission. Your task is simple; think of an image that would best represent CCPBI; whatever you believe would exemplify the CCBPI mindset, and would properly acknowledge someone conducting outstanding CCPBI. You will have two sides of the coin to work with. What you are to design is the concept of the coin (What would represent CCBPI being performed? Would it accurately convey the intentions of the award?). If your design idea is chosen, the mint artist will adapt your concept to design the final coin. The person who wins this contest will go down in CIS history as the creator. First Place will receive $300.00, and will be issued the first Silver .999 Minted CCBPI Coin. Second Place will be issued the first printed Silver plated CCBPI Coin. This contest is open to all employees, clients, friends and fans. Please send in all designs by June 25th, 2010 at the latest. See below for information when sending in your designs. Attention: Ashley Casey Email: Caseyar@cisworldservices.org Office: 727-461-9417
